of State Routes 545 and 603) Founded in 1840, The Olivesburg General Store was
established to provide the basic staples for the survival of the early settlers
of Richland County. Six years later, Richland County was divided in half to form
Ashland County. Situated near the Richland/Ashland county line, this charmingly rustic
General Store has all the atmosphere, flavor and ambiance of the good old days. Over 163 years of existence, the store today takes
you back in time, while marketing a great selection of reasonably priced
antiques, hardware, Home Made Chocolates, Gifts, Gift Baskets, Amish crafts, stoves, and specialty groceries. The Ice
Cream Bar serves hand dipped ice cream cones, in many of the flavors
you haven't had since you were a kid: Butter Pecan, Maple Nut, Black Cherry and
Cotton Candy to name a few. We dip a lot of ice cream (we order
two
deliveries a week). Since we sell so much ice cream, your cone or dish will be
fresh and taste like it just came from the ice cream maker. Customers are
encouraged to wander around the store with their ice cream and browse over the
varied selection of merchandise. If you are hungry, or would merely like a
snack for the road; the Deli has a wide selection of meats and cheeses.
This cheese from the Amish heartland is second to none! Colby, Swiss, Baby Swiss
and Smoked Cheddar have proven themselves to be a favorite of our local
residents, and visiting customers, alike. Be sure to ask for a sample of
cheese or maybe our famous Beef Jerky. The Beef Jerky is also sold from
our Deli, in any amount desired. It is the best! If you are planning
a visit to the Olivesburg General Store, you may wish to arrive when we
open. A corner of the store is still a congregating point for friends to
meet and enjoy a cup of coffee beside a flickering fireplace and discuss topics
from local politics, to the economy. The conversation and loitering is never
ending. Whatever direction the conversation of the day goes, the coffee is
always hot and fresh. We, the owners and storekeepers, of the Olivesburg
